banks used to be a place where you would store your precious metals and items for safe keeping, like gold. one of nature's most perfect specimens. a brilliant material. the terrestrial embodiment of the sun itself. shining with brilliance for all eternity. dense, heavy, physical. real.
then they started to convince people to part with their own piece of the sun and instead began storing mountains of worthless toilet paper with some old paedophile's face on the front with some made up number and value. they called it the 'green-back' on account of the multitude of rotting corpses festering in the mass graves, flesh turning rancid. ultimately all on account of this little tricky the bankers pulled.
as time passed they would devise even more elaborate schemes, they would just replace their endless stacks of TP with computers or the numbers themselves which didn't even have any physical representation at all. they would just arbitrarily change values according to their will. the black mages of Plutus! Curse them.

as the world descended further into madness and consumed by the Kali Yuga the dark mages of Plutus devised another scheme. they would simulate the process of extracting the light of the sun bound to stone, that of mining gold. they would simulate this all, bound to the machinations of the black mages and that of machine. they would convince the masses that this was one and the same. all this requiring vast amounts of labour, energy and human work of course.
