they're not scared of anything, Ed's just trying to milk the community pool for all it's worth before he fucks off to work on his own chain. he's probably going to use the lawyers paid with lunc's CP money to consult for his project and provide legal indemnification for himself and his cronies in the grants foundation.

here's a list of people on the L1 team who don't need any legal coverage:
- Superman... isn't doxxed, doesn't need any legal coverage, probably a Korean national
- Frag... is from Germany, USA's cuck laws don't apply to him, covered by EU laws
- Tobias... Dane, same as above, he's made multiple statements about the EU covering him
- Vinh... Vietnamese coder, same as above... not like anyone would want to sue him anyway

now let's see who would benefit from Ed's proposal:
- Ed himself... he's a doxxed US citizen and can get fucked if the government decides to go after him
- Marco... same as Ed, doxxed US citizen heading the Grants Foundation... open to liability
- LuncBurnArmy... same as above, US citizen, another one of Ed's cronies
- Duncan... same as above, US citizen, and is currently $60k in debt as well

so Ed is basically asking for north of $100k to assemble a legal team that benefits mostly himself and the people in his grants foundation

it's such an obvious grift I don't know how anyone could fall for it
