First time investing, someone more knowledgeable please explain this to me:

>Convert into another coin
>Becomes 0.99ETH or $103 USD during conversion at CoinSwitch
>TrustWallet says it's worth only $82.00 USD
>$82.00 becomes $115.00 USD
>Pretend-convert that $115 coin back into ETH
>Worth only 0.92 ETH ($97.52 USD)
>1 ETH is worth $106.00 USD

How come over 30% of growth ($82 > $115) is getting me less than I have started with? Seems like at this rate the coin would need to grow 50% just to get my money back (no interest in taking it out atm). So what happens when you buy crypto that costs $50 per instead of $0.01? Seems like it would be a lot less likely for that one to double at $50 then go from $0.01 to $0.02. And how do people sell before it's value goes down and then come back right before it's going back up if the profit% needs to be that high, particularly on penny crypto? Thanks.
