So I'm just thinking to myself and wondering if /biz/ has anything to contriboot;

>World has become increasingly urban
>Most land is either occupied or is a complete wasteland that would be near impossible to live in without serious investment
>People are so far removed from nature growing up that even if their country has a homestead law very few of them would be capable of making use of it; this drives up housing costs which has been the primary consumer of household income for the past century

I think the last point is particularly important. When I was young, I never gave a second thought to how houses came to be; what I found when we did our first reno, however, was that it's a creative process that uses a few basic rules to make something immensely complex. It's the same thing with a log cabin. You can figure it out if you have the knowledge, but most people just don't because they're never exposed to it.

In Canada (or at least in the West) we don't even have homesteading anymore because the government has been given ridiculous economic responsibilities (postal, roads, electricity, etc) that basically mean it's impossibly expensive for them to allow people to go innawoods (there are already people living on islands who enjoy tremendously subsidized ferry's that are paid for everyone but only used by them).

My understanding is that in the US it's still possible to homestead in the southwest (Nevada etc) because they only need to provide postal to incorporated areas. Even so, I know that you guys do have a really heavily subsidized post system.

TL;DR: Houses would be cheaper if we were rednecks

Is this accurate?

Why do the countries where the money is worth little pay their employees so little?

It's 3:30AM. What can I either do or learn online to earn money now or help to earn money online later?
