This is unironically due to varying liquidity at different parts of the curve and the investors which participate in each maturity segment. ie yields in the 30y may simply be stale / dormant due to low trading volume given it is mainly insurance companies in this part hedging liabilities, not the average active fund. The market for the 30yr has been around awhile, and is much more established. The 20yr new issues are brand new (2019 or 2020 was the first year new 20yr notes were issued in a long while).

So overall, 20yr yield being higher than the 30yr is mostly a liquidity and supply/demand mechanic. No one buys this Lil nigga.

You should worry more when the 3 month to 10 year inverts, and it's legitimately is right on the edge of inversion.
