The psychology they teach people in universities are fucking garbage, I've seen the intro psych classes from Harvard, Yale, MIT, Stanford etc, they all suck. The only course worth a shit is Jordan Peterson's two 2017 UoT lecture courses. The really terrifying psychology knowledge is hidden and used on us. Why do you think there are leftists acting like they do? It's not just college indoctrination.

I go both ways, I cannot stop sometimes. When I was younger I decided I was only going to watch / consume educational things. As time went on I let this slip.
Letting yourself relax is as important as working hard. Just like sleep is very important.
Tell yourself the time you are putting aside is to work on you. Fuck the world, it's all for YOU. It is purely your time. You will do things in this time that solely benefits you. Meditate, work out, shave, play some music loud.
Decompress and slow your breathe.
Also not being able to watch mindless shit is a good thing
