this Thanksgiving i am deeply deeply grateful for the fact that i no longer allow these substances (coke, meth, heroin) into my body. i am coming up on 3 years abstinent from opiates and barely touch any other substance. i no longer want that kind of experience-

what it took for me to quit was the realization that i was using them as a way to seek wholeness, gnosis, direct experience of and healing from the divine. by cutting out the middleman (i.e. hard drugs) and doing difficult but necessary work on myself and the deeper parts of my psyche through study, prayer, and consistent effort towards improvement, i have been able to re-program or decondition myself to the point where i am no longer attracted to these experiences.

yesterday i was in a room where there were open bags of heroin and cocaine, and i was offered some. the fact that i was able to refuse without a second thought seemed natural to me at the time, but on my way back home i literally broke down in tears out of gratitude to God for finally allowing me to be liberated from the self-destructive habits that almost killed me.

If any anon reading this is currently going through the hell of addiction, just know that progress is possible. However, the Divine does not act alone- the principle of coaction is present in all forms of development. But if you put forth effort, and intention towards growth and healing, anything is possible. May we all be free.
