If enough traders collectively buy in the near term, it will squeeze the shorters a bit (but not fully). The share price will go up a bit, and AMC will issue some shares to stave off bankruptcy. This might be discouraging, but it is good, as it will keep them healthy for a while...

...healthy long enough for society to re-open this summer. Studios will start dumping their films into theaters and the seats will be packed. Revenue will skyrocket to the moon. Anyone still short will be absolutely crushed, the share price by late summer will be be on fucking MARS
