MTL thread Part 2:

Someone asked "what is it" and the thread died before I was able to answer.

They're going to process crypto and credit card payments to ACH for cash only businesses, and they're going to pay businesses 5% when they process payments through MTL, and both businesses and customers 5% when they pay with MTL. (via minting new tokens in a process they call "Proof of Processed Payment")

This is very good for businesses that either don't want to deal with credit card payments because of the fees associated, or businesses which have trouble opening bank accounts.

The legal weed business has a notoriously hard time obtaining bank accounts or doing any business with banks due the marijuana's federal status.

MetalPay wants to focus on legal weed, adult entertainment, and other industries which have trouble dealing with banks.

The MetalPay platform is expected to launch some time in December.

MetalPay hired Samsung's PR firm a couple weeks ago, launched a new website (m.tl) and "went dark".

California legalizes the sale of weed on January 1st.

The MetalPay team is located in San Francisco.
