For bitcoin anyone can set up a exchange that buys and sells bitcoin since you don't need a global delivery system nor do you need a physical warehouse to store the bitcoin in. This makes it alot less practical to try and set up a comex style suppression like they have for gold and silver. Bitcoin is valuable, being able to cross borders with just the clothes on your back and take all your wealth with you without it being searched and confiscated by a government is valuable
