Did you even read my post? This isn't about learning calculus it's about learning how to learn and not just roll up in a fetal position in the face of new information. Yea he might not need calc if he's not in quant (though my understanding is fixed income for example actually does use it). But if OP only learns to give up in a discouraging scenario, then in a cutthroat field with semi-quantifiable results such as finance he will not, should not succeed. By putting in the work to learn something new, he will gain the seeds, the psychological tools to go further than his current state.
