The latest earnings showed that they are only losing 50 million per quarter now, which is much better than previously. They seem to have stemmed a lot of the bleeding. Good work.

Now here's the problem. How do they do that? Melvin Capital actually had a good theory. Games are going digital and that's not slowing down. The new XBox will be digital-only. That's going to severely hurt GameStop's future prospects. There's only so much money they get from selling consoles, controllers, and batteries. They used to make the bulk of their money from trade-ins and that just doesn't really happen so much anymore. If gamers want the game cheaper they can put a game they want on a wishlist and wait for a 30%-50% off sale. It's not like GameStop prices were significantly cheaper to begin with (in many cases they are more expensive than other retailers) If gamers want to sell a physical game they can list it on eg: facebook marketplace and get a much better deal than trading in into Gamestop (who were infamous for ripping off kids).

I'm not saying there's no chance they could ever come up with a profitable business model moving forward, but as things stand that is not the case.
