It is true, hence why they're so insistent that people buy and why all social media is spammed by bots claiming "they made X amount of money even during the financial crisis going on".

They're not real people and they're fishing furiously for bagholders to raise the price before they cash out and it falls back down.
In essence, people are giving their money to hedgefunds to short stocks with no payback for their robbery.
