Well, it's british history, but the two are so intertwined it's hard to separate them, especially for the rulers who intermarried all the time to get their hands on lands.
For example, the mother of Edouad III was Isabelle of France. And she was in couple with Roger Mortimer, who was a baron who led a rebellion against the king and was the one behind the murder of her husband, Edouard II, and stole the royal power.

Right after he got access to the throne of England at 14yo, while he was exiled in France, he immediately started to conspire to get Mortimer killed. He managed to cross the Manche, and to sneak in the chamber of his mother the queen and raptured Mortimer, then publicly executed him for treason. He then walled in his mom in a castle lost in the Norfolk.

Can you imagine the absolute state of familial relationships when your whore of a mother is fucking your father's killer then you kidnap him at night in your father's bed to kill him then you imprison your mother lel.
He then did countless things, but in short he started the bloody War of Hundred Year against France (who lasted 116 years in truth) right when the black plague kicked in, who will kill over half the western european population.

Lives of men of reknown back then were beyond kino indeed, i didn't tell you 0.1% of all the adventures he had.
