>$13K "Mene fee"? Seriously lol?
They probably have smelly cramped sweatshops in Delhi packed full of Pajeet slaves that they pay $5 a day to crank out basic jewelry like that. I refuse to believe their actual costs are more than $500 to have it made and securely shipped to their vaults in the US.

>you think it's bad when /pmg/ is 2 scrapchads talking silverware, get one metal detector in the mix with a few hundred posts a day and this thread will be ebay and digger central.

kek, that sounds far better than a /pmg/ full of uninsightful little bitchanons whining about numisfaggotry. PMs would be intolerably boring if it weren't for coins, antiques and scrap cheapies.

>Thats a nice Olbian hoard anon

Why thank you my observant fren, I guess it might be more accurate to call the assemblage Greco-Scythian, the multicultural milieu in the region back then was pretty complex and interesting but getting too academic makes peoples' eyes glaze over lol.

>Other avenues i've seen stuff sold way cheaper than their real value

This is true for absolutely everything on earth tho frogbro, if you're knowledgeable, discerning and have a good understanding of the different markets you can sniff out deals or develop effective slurp strategies for every category. I haven't been as active lately but had gotten very good at mining eBay for good deals on ancient antiquities, many sellers are just detectorists or high volume flippers who don't have deep specialized knowledge of everything the sell so they'll sometimes misidentify special rare items as lower value pleb-tier junk. Some types of good artifacts are more frequently misidentified as the same class of lower value item and can then be targeted for systematic slurping. I'm sure this same general situation can be found across most things but you won't see too many people sharing more than generalities about how they do it.

I poked around but couldn't find anything definitive. One hunch is that if the 2 repeated stamps say "*** SOLS" maybe it refers to a tax or duty paid (in Sols per piece or by weight?) by silversmiths or people who imported silver? It looks like good old European silver to me so if a cheapie you should get it and continue researching at your leisure.

Those are all pretty appealing condition "Antoninianus" double denarius coins, nothing amazing but easily worth $10-20 each retail.

>Something designed to be "collectible" will never truly be a collectible, it's just trash.

This has been my mantra since childhood fren, observing what other collectors collect is as informative as reading their IQ test results. Topwits never stoop to the level of hoarding Nascar branded Coca-Cola collectibles or their numismatic equivalents unless it's just inventory to dump on plebs.

Thanks anon, that coin required nothing but careful toothbrushing under running water. Most silver comes out very nice unless the soil is particularly caustic or polluted, coppers are a different matter but with the right pH you'll get magnificent green beauties.

>How long have you been into ancients?

I bought my first two when i was in 1st grade for $1 each when my dad took me to the Baltimore, MD coin show in the 90s, I promptly lost 1 at school kek but still have the other (a little bronze from Arados). Dabbled in ancient coins here and there but found myself more interested in ancient European artifacts/antiquities and American antiques which I was focused on until 2015 when I started studying and collecting ancient coinage more seriously and balancing my antiquities with relevant coins.

>You have a lot. Do you by chance have access to a LCS that sells them? How do you even store those tiny 1/4 obol tetartemorions?

I did recently buy a whole collection of 79 impeccably attributed ancient coins from the super based LCS my dad always goes to, $500 for everything which I will recoup easy by selling some of the ones I don't personally want. But besides that I've only gotten a couple other ancients at a LCS, most don't have the knowledge or client base to deal in them.

Regarding storage, I use baggies, glass vials, and can definitely recommend the "Kointain" line of thin, small-footprint plastic cases. Put the tinybois in the smallest Kointains then you can safely put them in flips or pick up and look at them without fumbling and losing them on the floor, I've had to use a gold pan to work the contents of my vacuum cleaner to find lost tetartemorions more than once lol,

>Anything greek?

A few coins (like the Hadrian tetradrachm) have Greek inscriptions but aren't Greek. It's unfortunate as Greeks are my favorite but I do appreciate getting some new material, researching and expanding my understanding will be fun. Since my dad has a great relationship with the coin shop and they've gotten to know and trust me too I'm pretty sure I'll have first pick of any future batches of ancients that get sold to them. The based old autist owner had brought in his collection to show me and we chatted for a couple hours, he has several immaculate and historically important coins worth 5-figures, it was awesome to look through his box and hold treasures of that caliber. I brought in some of my best and most interesting coins and artifacts to show too and he seemed to genuinely enjoy learning about them, definitely a better-than-average visit to a LCS.
>>55866545
thanks fren, it shows that not all coin shops are run by greedy boomers, hopefully sooner or later all anons can find a special LCS that'll treat 'em right.

Yeah I don't understand, can any autist-whisperer anons translate and contextualize this concept for me? Is it some sort of reddit campaign?

>They realize that gold and silver have been money in most of the civilized world for three thousand years

Damn right, it's been a long wait but after stacking for 200 generations I feel we're about to have our day in the Sun.
