as far as I understand, they will only be reimbursed for the value they lost at the time, and since btc has soared in value since the Mt.Goxx days, it represents a huge loss.
I keep warning people to not store their crypto on exchanges, even if they claim they have insurance, the insurance will only cover the present value of your assets (at best) and you will still lose out heavily on future gains when an exchange inevitably gets (((hacked)))
Quadriga is another perfect example where the ceo faked his own death and ran off with the money
