A number of reasons. If they are a public company at a certain level they need to promote ESG, diversity causes so they keep their large institutional shareholders (think pension funds) happy and so their stock is bought by ESG funds. The Norwegian pension fund is the second biggest pension fund in the world and apparently quite an ESG activist and will vote for these things when they sit on companies boards etc.

A lot of big companies or companies who want to be big attempt to gain prestigious awards as the 'Best Workplace' or 'Best Employer' promoted by Linkedin or other marketing firms and industry bodies. To win these awards and be on these lists you basically have to promote yourself as a diversity whore

tldr; institutional investers and HR departments of big companies promote this stuff
