juul is gay but most e-cig flavors are clearly less harmful than cigarettes

here's an easily-reproduceable experiment that should tell you almost everything you need to know; hold a lit cigarette up close to something clean (a plate, your hand, whatever; keep the ember away), and let the cigarette smoke run against its surface for 30 seconds
next, smell the object; notice both how horrendous the smell is, and that the surface of the object is now dirty
that's going into your lungs
do the same with vapor from almost any vape, and the same effect is practically not there

this is because the combustion of assorted organic materials generally produces more random (read: unwanted, very likely bad for you) by-products that readily cling to other surfaces than non-combustion vaporizing devices
almost any vape, when used as intended, doesn't do this; neither vegetable glycerin nor propylene glycol break down in considerable amounts when heated to ~200C for the split-second they need to be for vaporization, and they make up the majority of almost any e-liquid
they do decompose, slightly, but the resulting toxins are barely present—far less than what's inhaled smoking a cigarette

this said, while it's good general practice to not suck back the smoke from something burning, life is short and you should do what you feel like doing when you feel like doing it, until you don't feel like doing it anymore
within reason of anyone else's expense, obviously

nicotine is hardly the problem; it's pretty benign as far as stimulants go, but it's an easy target because it's the thing that almost everyone thinks kills you and gets you addicted, when it comes to smoking
like anything else, it can be misused, but it just doesn't live up to its poor image
making a habit of inhaling combustion residuals is gonna be much worse for you compared to whatever brief high a few daily doses of nicotine gives you
