the thing is that webdev and devops have pretty much no overlap, even though they're both essential to one another. in webdev you'll learn technologies like JS, React, Vue, and if you're programming your own backend, then Node, or Django for python, and so on

they have pretty much 0 relation to any devops technologies. but of course you need to set up an AWS server to host a website for example, so the two are connected in that regard. if you want to do devops, then skip learning webdev, it really wont help

ps. my degree is in engineering as well, but all of my work has been programming. degrees dont matter much
