Apple got rekt in China via an IP lawsuit with Qualcomm.
Qualcomm won and unsurprisingly are now pushing for an all-out ban on every single Apple phone and product sold in China and the rest of the world.
That and competition from China No. 1 sales leader, BBK's Vivo/Oppo/Oneplus, China No. 2, Huawei and other brands like ZTE/Gionee/Xiaomi etc.

Due to the trade war, the increasingly nationalistic crowd are dumping iPhone and straight-up buying Huaweis and ZTEs instead.
To make matters worse, there is an ongoing major scandal regarding the newest generation of iPhones, namely their poorer build quality and battery design (Same problem of the Note 7).
Also, any generation (iPhone 6S and before) before the latest generation of Apple garbage is built more reliably and have none of flaws that new ones have
(Yes, even the overpriced crap that is the iPhone X), hardware and software wise, as attested by the workers and employees who actually built and designed iPhone in China.

TL;DR The Chinks ain't buyin' and Apple is getting fisted up the ass by the competition.
