>Digital gold

Gold is the best and most shiny type of rock, so it won out over seashells. The laws of physics and human nature dictate, that if you're using rocks for money, that one's the best one (well... either that or silver anyway).

Just because we're now moving to digital rocks doesn't really change the game of how things become money. Not as much as people think anyway. Hell, half the posts here by the maxis, show pictures of physical gold coins with a bitcoin logo. Kind of an odd thing to do when you think about it, no? Trying to convince people's collective lizard brains that this particular digital rock is the shiniest and most valuable by relating it to the shiny rock they know.

The question is still which rock is most shiny. Thing about digital rocks though, is that every week a newer, shinier digital rock type will be released. The debate never really ends, and the #1 position is never secured by anything immutable. It doesn't offer the same finality to the answer of which thing is "money".

Bitcoin is digital wampum. It will serve a purpose, for a time.
