i've been trying some different places online like mountvernoncoins
some of their items are 25% lower than "other" well known online places.
i think every place is still a hit and miss hunt and peck comparisoin shopping multiple vendors though as far as items available and related pricing

On the left; one 10 ounce bar next to 10 one ounce coins

On the right; kilo bar next to 32 one ounce coins

(if you spell the word 'ounce' enough times, it starts to look weird. anybody else notce that?)

10 ASEs compared to a 10oz bar
32 ASEs compared to kilo bar
makes me favour the bars in some ways for easier storage and transport of larger amounts
ASEs still seem highly favourable for selling, barter and trade of various smaller denominations including low value everday essentials

Bars, in addition to being cheaper per oz, also take up less space (pic related).
If you're just starting out, here's a general template to follow (adjust as needed).
Say you plan on accumulating 500 ozs. I'd say get your first 100 ozs in good quality rounds, such as Asahis, because they're affordable but recognizable. Then decide what amount of gov't coins you want, and which kind, then split the next 100-200 ozs between coins and rounds until you have the ratio you want. Then I'd look into 10oz bars for the next 100-200 ozs. After that, 100oz bars and/or gold.
This is just one path... please do your own research, adjust and improvise as your needs and circumstances dictate.
Allow yourself to splurge on meme coins/I-really-want-it coins every once in a while, but don't get too deep into numismatics or collectibles until you know what you're doing.

Coins/rounds are slightly harder to fake and easier to test. Also slightly more liquidity (maybe) against a larger, possibly suspect or less-recognized/less-in-demand bar. In addition, there's the question of how much space do you have available in your safe/pirate chest/hole-in-the-ground, see pic related. Some countries in bongistaneuroland have different tax laws for coins vs bars.

Having said that, it's "might" stacked on top of "maybe". Like most decisions here on /pmg/, it ends up being a personal choice. Some like one more than the other. Most have a mix of coins/rounds and bars of different sizes. The ratio is entirely up to you and your stacking focus at the moment.

>Coins, rounds, bars all are considered taxable by the IRS. Doesn't matter if ASE, has face value etc.

As far as best form for price over spot-
It varies. Usually you can get a better price the larger the bar, but often there's little or no price difference from 1oz rounds if you shop around. Then there's a possible trade off against decreased liquidity, and you might lose any savings you made when buying. Arguments can be made for and against the importance of liquidity:
- why would you sell? Hold until moon, collapse, hyperinflation, GSR correction, change in wealth cycles etc
- no point in stacking if I can't use it when I need to, and conveniently
- liquidity problems are a myth, LCS dealers minters etc will still want my 1,000,000oz bar
- etc etc, there's good points on both sides

...and of course, bigger bars take up less space in the safe/pirate chest/hole in the ground (pic related).

TL;DR
It's a highly individual choice. When in doubt, shop around and get 1oz coins/rounds for the best price. Analyze your stacking priorities and adjust accordingly.
