Ripplefag here. Why are my fellow jewscamcoinbros shilling XLM lately? I went to their website and it reads like the average /biz/let trying pitch his coin. The total supply has been all over the place with no guarantee that Jed won't change it again. IBM dropped them last I heard. What am I missing here?

The company Ripple has been making deals worldwide that are setting XRP up to a global intermediary currency for transfers and settlement. They are working with the Federal Reserve and forty to fifty other central banks including the IMF and BIS. SBI in Japan, which is made up of sixty plus banks that control eighty percent of the banking assets in the country, is going to run everything on XRP. Ripple has half of the banks in India, a lot of payment apps throughout southeast Asia, and news is beginning to leak out about China. Saudi Arabia is going to build a new city that will be powered by XRP. I forgot how the EU was going to implement it but they are in there too. The W3C talked about making XRP and the Interledger protocol the backbone of internet payments. In the United States the big players like Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, and a list of others are investing in XRP too. Even the Bitcoin ETFs will probably be settled using Ripple's products as banks adopt it and the Codius smart contract system will challenge Ethereum especially since they have a plan, Xpring, for financing startups that use the platform. The pivotal moment will be when xRapid goes live and people see the utility of the XRP token in action. Ripple's CEO, Brad Garlinghouse, has said it will happen this year and Yoshitaka Kitao, SBI's CEO, has said it will be number one in the blink of an eye. As for the outdated claim that it is centralized, Ripple controls a smaller percentage of the validators on the XRP ledger than Bitmain controls of the Bitcoin blockchain.

My dad is an amazing man. He is one of those super handy guys that has taught me so much about pretty much everything from working on cars, woodworking, electrical, plumbing, concrete, etc. If it’s something you can build or fix with your hands, he’s good at it. His lessons have saved me so much money over the years. Having the ability and confidence to dive into pretty much any home project or automotive repair without hiring someone is as fiscally rewarding as it is mentally.

The one thing he has been slower to grasp is the crazy advancements in technology that a person in the hands-on world doesn’t usually get much exposure to. Even still, his company got him an iPhone a few years ago, and in less than a month he was texting me and sending me funny videos from YouTube. He never ceases to amaze me with his ability to learn and adapt.

With retirement right around the corner, we talk a lot about investing and stocks and whatnot. I like to talk about crypto currency and the projects I’m interested in. One he’s always been interested in me explaining to him was Ripple. He doesn’t quite grasp a lot of it, but explaining how it makes transferring money faster and cheaper isn’t hard to grasp. He thinks it will be a game changer and I agree.

I’ve been in crypto currency for a couple years now, and knowing the volatility I can’t bring myself to “convince” others to buy into it, knowing they could lose a lot of money.

Today is his birthday. I set up a toast wallet for my him and threw 250xrp in it. I stored the information on a usb drive and encrypted it, so he can feel extra technical having to enter passwords to access his new technomonies.

I’m excited to give it to him. The monetary value won’t matter nearly as much as being able to teach him and include him in something new, the way he has for me my entire life.

Happy birthday papa.
