You need to see monero being as illegal as alcohol during the prohibition, or weed and other 'light' drugs in current year. People will just use it anyway.
The fiat scam can only run for so long, and governments will of course force the hand of all big businesses so they can't accept anything other than their CBDC. This is a given.
This will spur the new era of small, independent businesses. Globalism will take a massive hit because people will start opting to buying local (with monero and other non-legacy currencies) instead of buying on Amazon or Walmart.
The government DOES NOT have the necessary manpower to force all small businesses out there to be CBDC-only. And small business owners from your neighborhood, who will be very wary of governments and banks, will happily accept alternative currencies in which their value isn't diminished by bad policy.

For all of this to happen you will need some kind of big black swan event that will greatly impact the dollar. Some period of hyperinflation or even the current high inflation for a long enough time will make people start looking for alternative currencies to save their money in (precious metals as physical currency, crypto as digital currency)..
