to be honest we have very little idea how those veins formed. Native copper banding like what you see along lake Superior and Michigan are extremely rare in nature, the same goes for native silver too. These elements like to form bonded with other metals / minerals. I can do some research if your interested in how these areas formed, its fascinating to me as well.

yes! you can use simple water displacement to figure out its weight / gold value, but you really wouldnt ever need that info. Gold nuggets are valued by their as is weight plus how they look.
