Is that what I told her? Why on God's Green Earth wouldn't I tell my mother to set aside a large lump sum windfall instead of spending it, knowing that the market is going to tank soon?
Her income covers her bills and mortgage comfortably, so why should she blow her lump sum payment on 'paying her bills' and 'having cash' when her mortgage payment won't actually go down at all? So the market can bottom out and she won't have any money set aside to "gamble" with when it does?
