I have quite a number of hard rock claims right now, but i dont really do much actual processing of the stuff lately. Operating my little flat deck mill is expensive and time consuming to setup, but my small scale assaying gear works fine for free mill ores or for more complex stuff like this. This stuff is high grade silver gold ore, with lots of metallic silver / lead. Its flexible in places if struck with a sledge hammer.

Free mill gold is my favorite stuff, placer gold is nice but a good 1 inch or bigger free mill vein will always be what i dream of.

ah thats a bit of a challenge in most of the States, the Carolina's though have some tasty gold if you can find land to play on.
You will need the basics like a gold pan, some buckets and hand tools such as a pick, pry bar, shovel. Remember the basic rules, gold is heavy, its stubborn. Gold only moves if its forced to, look where the heavy storms have left material. Check every bedrock crack and clay boundary. I can only go so deep into this, but there are dozens of vids out there by guys like Dan Hurd and Ask Jeff Williams, they can help you get onto the gold, if there is gold in your region.

a few of my latest pieces have had a lot of quartz in them, meaning the source cant be very far away. Cant wait to get back out on the creeks, my main workings this spring are pretty much dry now unfortunately. However by high alpine claims are open and its time to look for big serious gold. Hard rock gold never hurts either.

look a little closer, there is visible gold in the crystal pocket dead center. pic related, loads of little pockets with infilled gold laying around the decomposing vein. No wonder the old timers were after this.
