Villains have day jobs, they are never unemployed neets. Does it ever bother you that the heroine is the only unemployed pony with no hobbies other than (((reading books))) or (((writing diaries)))

Literally the innocent beautiful one in the hive of rats, nothing in, nothing out only a web-crawler reading bot data. The other ponies all had some sort of job. Maybe it was a bad job but it had a role to play in the society. The main-character was a neet. Literally the moral center, the privileged priest class. The cleric, the healer, the root, the hero by definition.

You cannot get further from villain than the master of the golem. A villain is always a supporting character a villain always has their livelihood described. If the "villian" does not have an industrious base then they are not a real villain, they are a hero that wears a villian's clothes.

All villains, in all stories, worldwide and across cultures are materially motivated. Any moral motivation, or neetdom makes them a hero.

The villian fundamentally sells life at a loss, the hero saves life.

By not selling her life twilight remains a hero, remains (((pure))) her faith in knowledge and books unshaken. Her attachments are ephemeral she is a boddisatva, a christ, a prophet. A hero.

Applejack has worldly attachments and moreover enjoys protecting them at the cost of others. She is a satan, a benighted and backwards reactionary, a villain.

Where Twilight would in the desert reject temptation, Applejack would accept the first temptation with an ROI over inflation. This is what makes her a villian, this is what makes her an earth pony, this is what makes her human.

She is more like us than different.
