They're mostly slurping restrikes that were made for the american market when they pulled the 1933 fiasco. Those aren't really historical artifacts. I doubt many foreigners are actually buying 19th century or older euro coins, especially not the more expensive ones. The americans are more interested in their own 19th century coins. Otherwise they buy restrikes or pay extra for meme coins like reichmarks because naughty-naughty windmills.

I've seen pics of russian vaults full of silver, so they stack some at least (along with gold). The only problem is it takes up a whole lot more room than gold, so there's limits to how much they can stack.
Also, argent means money in french, and same deal with some other languages.

I really like the classical look on these old coins. That barber looks very similar to this 19th century coin with Ceres (Demeter), goddess of agriculture. I guess that must be where the semeuse (sower) motif originated from. They still use the semeuse on modern euro coins minted in France, but sadly she's only a very vague shape now.
