Basically Hitler continued the economic policy of the previous government, and even kept on the finance minister Hjalmer Schacht. By pretty much all accounts (including Speer) Hitler was uninterested in economics and probably didn’t quite grasp how important it was.

Towards the war they did shift to a wartime economy...they did have an economic boom right before the war however it was a huge bubble as their currency was worthless outside of Germany and they had to import a few key resources...they had to straight up trade things like timber for steel with other countries because their currency was worthless and they didn’t have enough reserves of other currencies.
