Anything at 1000 frickin watts will fuck up what ever gets too close to it. Try sticking your hand in a box with a 1000 watt lightbulb. The same thing will happen, just the microwave oven is more efficient at transferring energy to the food instead of the whole box.
If I were to take roughly 1 square meter area of Sun light, focus it to a small point with a fresnel lens, it'd contain so much energy that it can cut through steel! This would be about 1300 watts. Here's the thing... The Sun's light also contains ionizing radiation. This is the scary-ness people think of when they hear "radiation". But not all radiation is the same. Some radiation "packs a stronger punch" than others. Radiation is measured by its wavelength (literally its size) or frequency. The smaller (or higher frequency) radiation is, the "stronger the punch". Everything is constantly emitting radiation, even you and me, and its size can be manipulated by the temperature. If I heated an object, the size of the radiation it emits would eventually become small enough that our eye balls can sense it; which is about 380 terra hertz to 790 Thz. This is why electric burners become illuminated and how thermal cameras work. Radiation doesn't become ionizing/destructive until about 3,000 Thz, which is ultra violet. Microwave ovens are 0.0024 Thz, and 5G is 0.028-0.039 Thz, so yea...
