It may be the package deal syndrome. Many people sign on for the entire menu when they identify as a liberal, let's say. They have to take on whatever is on the go. Elon hate, anti-Trumpism, open borders, vaccine mandates etc. Not that any of those could be good or bad positions, but they'll unthinkingly adopt the entire raft, or so it seems.
