dfinity was not going to vote and they would have left it up to the community. Last I checked before I removed the content the votes were something along the lines of 4 million voting power to remove the canister to 40k voting power to keep the canister alive. The person I talked to was NOT a dfinity dev, but he has a considerable stake in the IC ecosystem.
