oftentimes they hide the truth in a veil of shadow to prevent people from looking in and encourage them to brush it off as crazy occult or evil
by the same token, they use these exact symbols for their influence and power on our subconscious minds for their own nefarious goals (think of the co-opting of the rainbow by homosexuals as the perfect example)
