I just had my last 12K of student loans forgiven. I didn't do anything special or apply to any forgiveness program. Some people who went to scam colleges that advertised during trashy daytime TV had their loans forgiven but I graduated from an accredited state university so that can't be it. I received an email a few weeks ago from the Biden administration saying they were going to forgive my debt. I thought it was just more election-pandering hopium going nowhere like when they tried to forgive loans for everyone last year only to get predictably cockblocked.

But today I got another email from Scranton Joe saying my loans were forgiven. I logged into my provider (Nelnet) and saw a paid off $0 balance. They're also refunding loan payments I made this year and they said it's a federally untaxed benefit. Anybody else luck into these gibs? I've asked people I know IRL who have loans and none of them were forgiven.
