Index investing is the child of John Bogle, who dedicated his life to finding the best way for people to invest when it comes to bonds, sharemarkets and bank accounts. But his studies into investing were only in the US, he never looked at international indexes. Not sure why other than it was a lot of work just to look at one country, let alone other countries as well. He literally spent his whole life studying equity funds, retail investors and everyone who touched stocks to figure out whether his hunch was right, that indexes were better than stock picking.

I only know that Australia also has exceptional returns, on par with the US, because i took an interest with Bogles work and did my own for Australia to see if I could invest at home rather than internationally. Thankfully, due to different reasons than the US, mainly franking credits and a high dividend culture, Australia is actually the perfect index country to just hold and let it compound. I dont know about other countries than the US and Australia though. But you could figure it out yourself if you wanted.

If anyone wants to learn more go order The Little Book of Common Sense Investing. Its the only investing book you need to read and its short and to the point. Just force yourself to do it.
