Hey basedbob, I had rediscovered and posted this a few months ago for you and panman but don't think either of you were in the thread. It's a promotional sulfide gold ore sample box from 1937 (wishes the recipient a happy new year and prosperous 1938) from a mining company that controlled about 6 goldmines in Colorado between ~1935-WW2. Judging from the interesting letter I think they were a ploy to help sell stock, just imagine how many more shares of Bayhorse would have been hoovered up here if Graeme sent /pmg/ cute boxes of ore kek. I haven't looked hard but can't find anything else quite like it and figure items like this are pretty scarce, probably worth a few bones to Colorado gold mining history autists. Curious if you have any insight to bring to bear on it?

Calling PANMAN and Big Bob!

I finally found my antique sulfide gold ore sample box and took a pic. It's from "Tip-Top Gold Mines, Inc." with headquarters in Denver and a half dozen gold mines in Gilpin county Colorado. From the very little I can dig up on them it seems that they got started in 1936 or so, and were recorded as producing ~3,000 tons of ore in 1940, but I assume WW2 caused them to get shut down. In the printed insert they wish the recipient a happy and prosperous 1938 so it was made and sent in 1937, apparently before they really got production going. Very interesting promotional gimmick and probably done to encourage the sale of their stock? I figure that very few boxes of literal rocks would have been saved more than a few days back in the 30s so I think it's a pretty unique artifact of the pre-WW2 gold mining era. If you have any thoughts or insights I'd appreciate them, thanks!
