When I was around 14, a long time ago, I joined this new social media / chat type site called imeetzu. I used fake pictures of this 17 year old emo guy who deleted his myspace years prior and made a profile pretending to be him.

I became close friends with a bunch of people over the next year and became the most popular person on the website with several thousand friends. It had chats you could publish, and I'd publish ones I thought were funny where I trolled people or joked around and they got thousands of views, they were the most voted up ones on the site at the time. After that point, I ran out of pictures of the random guy I selected as my persona and people were getting too close to me so I just randomly cut off all ties one day.

Sometime in the past decade the site died and all of the profiles were deleted off of it.

At the time, I had very few friends and never had anyone who would interact with me on other social media. I had opened up a facebook and had like 50 friends and zero engagement back in the prime of the site's popularity. I got a taste of what it felt like to be popular, attractive and well liked. There's one girl in particular on that site that I talked to a lot and that I had a crush on. But I was just catfishing her when I didn't even know what that meant. I just wanted to live vicariously through that profile in that moment.

Since then, the only people to ever listen or care about what I have to say are on 4chan. I get a bit of that same satisfaction from making elaborate greentexts and funny posts that get a lot of replies. But it's always fleeting here. I really do wish I was a person that people cared to talk to and wanted to be with. So I feel you anon, realizing what you're missing out on because you are you is tough.
