>limited edition
True. There are also generic rounds with limited (and gorgeous) designs, but coins have crossover collector interests: numismatists, historians, art collectors, special interest groups, and/or seekers of antiquities (some antique generic bars with no special design also fetch higher prices). The more boxes you can check, the better chances of getting a higher price if you sell. For coins, it's particularly great if you can get the firsts of new series.

>recent stuff
There certainly is a lot of glitzy/campy movie/pirate stuff out there recently. But also some very cool ship stuff

>the shipwreck coins
I would check ebay and similar outlets to get an idea of pricing. I'm not sure being in the host country matters for recently out of mint coins.

This is indeed the scenario that I experienced. When I started, Ag was at $37/ozt. I still consider the current prices as a deal.
My suggestion would be to take it easy - just buy stuff you really like, and then it won't matter what the market does, because you won't have sunk everything into a commodity you can't resell to break even, and you'll still have very nice artwork.
If it heads into the mid-teens again, start buying more frequently. If it goes up, buy less frequently. It'll come back down again. The manipulators make money off the *change* in prices, not the steady movement one way or another.

Certain. Stick with coins that have limited mintages (other than the year stamp) - those with different designs each year. Koalas, Kooks, East Caribbean 8, Elephants...
Especially the firsts of any new series.
