retard-tier meme, this is only true because it's so expensive. if gold was abundant and cheap, it would be a straight upgrade over lead, tin, copper, and even iron in many of its applications. almost all plumbing, electrical wire, foils, and finishings would be better if made of gold. it would have absolutely massive industrial demand if it wasn't both so scarce and so optimal that it commanded a high enough price to mostly just get hoarded.
