Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, yes, the main fighting will be isolated, but I think you're forgetting how much things have advanced in the field of weaponry and war since the american civial war, and eventually one side wins. who rules you now after the previous civil war? did you get to choose a different side? You think the winners won't be rooting out any of the last remaining members of the opposition? You think they'll just say "we won" and sit there and do nothing? or do you forget that all the nazis were rounded up and left to die by americans. communists too did crazy shit like arrest quarter of a city. If things really get bad, it's not as far fetched as you think. maybe you need to read some history books, it has happened, and, to bring it back home, you'll be glad of some gold and silver coins in your pocket, that can convey their value regardless of fiat, country or language.
