L2 will indeed fix privacy, and “tainted” btc is a meme, anyone with an iq > 80 can spend them, there are no restrictions or checkpoints on LN cause it’s a self-organizing distributed network, channels are opened and closed continuously and you will always find someone accepting those sats. Then you can move them around for free, move them on different nodes using different channels and you can settle them later on on a totally disconnected UTXO
Or you can CoinSwap UTXOs with taproot and UTXO history will be meaningless

Because it was too early for zk proofs and protocol changes on BTC are close to impossible, unlike monero that keeps changing mining algo every two days. Not saying it’s a good or bad thing, I’m just saying it’s impossible to do it on BTC cause it’s the only true decentralized protocol, so privacy on BTC is improving, but in different ways, without doing impossible massive changes
