I'm new to all of this entirely, how do I get into crypto currencies? I have around $1200 AUD right now I want to invest until I go on holiday in February, I'm not expecting to make an exorbitant ammount of money, but I was hoping to maybe make another $100-$300.
I was thinking of investing in some alt coins like ARK, Is it possible to just buy a bunch now and sit on them or will I run into fee's and other bullshit, and how do I go about actually purchasing/selling coins? Any tips or advice would be handy.

In 2010 or 2011 I received about 3BTC from a guyI was good friends with in runescape. His IGN was salogel52. It was like $2-$4 at the time so I was like whatever. I think it was in some wallet.dat file on my laptop iirc.
A while later I got tired of Runescape and stopped playing for a few months, in this time I kinda had forgotten about my BTC. When I came back I never saw the guy again, as of now his username is deleted even.
Anyway, fast forward a few years when bitcoin was all over the news because of the crazy rise in value in dec 2013 I remembered that I had some BTC too. So I searched on google on how to recover my wallet and luckily I was able to recover it.
After I got it back, BTC was dropping in value from 1k and it never got quite back to that value so I did some research on other coins back then and decided to put my BTC in Monero because it was shilled to me back then.
Bought 825XMR for the 3BTC I had and held it in a wallet. Wrote the private key down in my pokemon diamond instruction booklet. However, the value of my XMR went lower and lower and I got sick of it and treated the money as gone.
I forgot all about crypto again up untill june this year when bitcoin was all over the news yet again. In the meantime I had gotten a new pc so my old wallet.
XMR price was still shit though so I didn't really care for it back then. But then after BTC crashed from 5k to 3k I saw that XMR went to the fucking moon. I freaked out and searched everywhere if I could find where I put my private key phrase. Finally found it a week ago in the pokemon diamond instruction booklet so I could finally get to my monero again.
Turns out its worth almost fucking 80k and I almost wanted to cash it out right then and there but then I thought it would be suspicious as hell if all of a sudden I have +80k on my bank account. So I thought as long as I can prove that I traded 3BTC for 825XMR back then I'm fine right?
