>i think it's fairly obvious (even to right-wingers) that the desire for individual wealth and the transmission of wealth to one's progeny is an effect of the material conditions of capitalism
So enhancing your mating prospects and chances of survival for you and your offspring are a capitalist creation kek?

>not some fundamental essence of human "nature" or animal "instinct" as you like to call it
Then if it's not in human nature why do we have trace of war from even pre-civilizational societies?
Groups compete for ressources, it's a historical fact that has nothing to do with capitalism.

>resources were passed down, shared, distributed, but not codified or legislated through the regime of private property until the advent of capitalist relations
Ressources were maybe shared inside a group (basically an extended family) but they were traded between groups, it's called commerce and implies some concept of private property.

>the desire for a fulfilling life for yourself could not be separated from the desire for a fulfilling life for those around you
This is some top notch romanticization of tribal societies, in reality it was more like submitting yourself to the role the tribe gave to you or being ostracized because there was just not enough food for to support a slacker.
