I just realized that most index fund investors expect to run out of money just as they die (using the 4% withdrawal rate), without leaving any money behind for family or children
the 4% rule has a 95% success rate over a 30 year period, but success is defined as "not running out of money", so if you have even 1 dollar at the end that still counts as success LMAO
and if you live more than 30 years after retirement you're fucked
