seconded! this book changed my life. Dr. Michael Newton is great, both Journey of Souls and the sequel are amazing. the gist of it is that a psychotherapist (a real one, with an MD etc) got into using hypnotic regression to treat his patients' persistent problems, but quickly found that many issues stem from past lives (which is a whole different can of worms but very well-supported, look up Dr. Ian Stevenson's Cases of the Reincarnation Type for more info on that)

anyway so these advanced entities started speaking to Michael Newton through his hypnotized patients and following their guidance he would hypnotically regress his patients to the moment of death and follow them through the reincarnation process, turns out our souls are always developing and evolving and we work on the same issues (with the same people!) throughout many lives, incarnating at certain times and in certain places in certain circumstances for specific reasons. which is how this ties into /XSG/, obviously.

it's a quick read, full of interesting case studies and transcriptions of recordings from people as they were hypnotized, describing the period in-between lives. sounds pretty cool, kind of like a cosmic Hogwarts. highly recommend. i found this book on the street when i was at absolute rock bottom and it resonated so strongly that it made me want to change my life. this knowledge is helpful because it frames your challenges as obstacles to be overcome to develop your soul. gives meaning to life and a different perspective to relationships.
