That's correct. For months now, bitcoin on-chain fees are high. There are tens of thousands of waiting transactions trying to enter the next block. That backlog never gets cleared out and that sustains high fee rates. For example, now it is more than a dollar to enter the next block. And that is a huge turnoff for me (a third world'er, dollar is expensive).

Even though Samourai whirlpool had a 25℅ discount rate for the last 3 days, due to high btc on chain fees, I did not use the Whirlpool coinjoin.

I can't imagine normies paying this much (and higher in the future, too) fee to get in a block in the next hour.

Contrast this UX with XMR: pay a penny. Get into the next block. Transaction fees get cheaper as more users use it, due to dynamic block size. Private by default, always.

BTC is inferior.
