retard here, can someone explains how this works?

so if spot vix never changes, and vix futures never change, Do i capture the contango between month 1 and 2 ? it is at 12.72% right now

I'm looking at the chart of svix and when it is gaining value, it typically will run up 12%-15% in a month, granted that is also being aided by vix going down. past 6 weeks it has gone up 37%

I was looking at selling call options on it; surely there's no way spot vix goes lower.
