I see where you're coming from but I like having assets in different asset classes, and because I don't understand cryptos I don't want to diversify into those. Obviously I don't agree that a bunch of ones and zeroes are a better store of value than gold which has thousands of years of history.

I doubt most gold/silver bugs are hoping for a major depression or a similar situation either. At least I hope they aren't. But becoming self-sufficient is just a good general goal to strive for in my opinion, it has been a little bit of a goal for me at least since I've started investing. I'm bursting with energy to try and improve myself!
