Whoever started this rumor is full of shit. Jobs don't call people just because they applied. My first job working at a grocery store (HEB) I stopped by MINIMUM once a week for a quick second and let the managers know I had put in an app and would really like the opportunity to be part of the team, etc. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, come hiring time they remembered my face and blamo - employment. I then went to RadioShack and same thing, stop by once a week for a quick second (DO NOT BE ANNOYING/HANG AROUND ) be sincere and professional just tell them you are really interested and hope they will consider you blah blah. After that I was an assistant manager at GameStop. We were a little pick and only hired good looking people, muscular popular guys, hot girls. Damn those girls didn't know shit about games but holy crap those nerds loved buying stuff/reserving games from them. From there I went to an accounting firm. Emails work great. Immediately after the interview send an email thanking them for the opportunity and taking time, blah blah your very interested in the position, blah blah hope you will consider me blah blah. From there phone calls to follow up work well, maybe stop by once to follow up but it's not really good ediquite, just email/phone calls to follow up so they can forward them to all people in the office who will be making that decision.
